The Vision
Imagine a generation of people, destitute of hope, discontent with religion, gasping for life, searching for answers, and asleep to the daily rising sun, animated by hope and the opportunity that comes with education.
The Story
In the cold December of 2008, Sarnaa Archie, inspired by a dream, went to Ethiopia with $80 and a one way ticket. There he befriended young people, became a soccer coach, and a mentor, and witnessed a kid named Mikel commit suicide because he could not get a drivers license to become a truck driver and build a better future for himself. On the day of Mikel’s funeral, Sarnaa talked with the soccer team about what they thought about what Mikel did. They all agreed that they would do the same thing if they couldn’t succeed in Ethiopia. Deeply disturbed by their responses Sarnaa asked what he could do. The soccer team requested a library and study center. After doing some homework, and assisted by some friends in the United States, Sarnaa flew back to the US and began working on getting books, soccer equipment, and developing a mentoring program to help youth in Ethiopia have hope and success in life.
